Using Your Sewing Machine on Paper

I LOVE using my sewing machine to make cards or to package things. It's so cute, versatile, and unique, and not hard at all! Just make sure you use a separate needle than you sew with, because sewing on paper can really dull your needle.

You can't really tell, but I sewed around the outside of these pillowcase invitations to create a little pocket that the pillow invite could go in. And a package I wrapped using my machine! So easy and not the usual bag with tissue! I am a huge believer in wrapping gifts old-school style with paper instead of bags. So much more fun to decorate and open. You can't lose. * I got the idea for this from a random picture I found online, but I lost the picture and can't remember where it came from.

  1. That is so cool. Love your cards and the bag is such a cool idea. I often sew drawstring bags for presents. A present in a present. Have done rubber stamped impressions on velvety fabric for really elegant ones. I've sewn on paper off and on for years...just a fun thing. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

  2. Love it! Now I need to go get a new needle since I've already broke the tip off of one.

  3. The pillow case invites are the cutest things I've ever seen. I'm also a believer in wrapping paper over bagging it. So thanks for the cute idea.

  4. aaaawwww! That is so lovely and nice. Gift wrapping has died out du eto the availability of all these fancy gift bags but you are right that there is an element of personal love and excitement in paper wrapping.
